The Geodesic Team Theorem™ was
developed by the company's founder, Dr. Meredith Gardner, who has spent her
career inspiring organizations to bridge the
communication gaps that naturally develop
within and between corporate groups and
departments.
Over time,
Dr. Gardner noticed certain naturally
occurring, and almost predictable informal
networks within organizations which exert
strong influence over the success of all
interdepartmental and vertical
communication, management, and leadership
initiatives within the enterprise. The
networks work both positively and negatively
---Positively when they are acknowledged,
formalized and harnessed; and they work
negatively when they run wild unacknowledged
exerting their silent influence.
This
informal network can best be conceptualized
as a geodesic sphere. The Geodesic Team Theorem™ proposes that in order to visualize
how human interaction actually takes place
(outside of the formal management chain),
one must understand both the simplicity
and the intricacies of the Geodesic Sphere.
GEODESIC SPHERE DEFINITION:
On a
Geodesic Sphere, the geodesics intersect to
form triangular elements that have local
triangular rigidity and also distribute the stress across the entire structure. When
completed to form a complete sphere, it is
known as a geodesic sphere. The endpoints of the links of the completed
sphere would then be the projected endpoints
on the sphere's surface.
GEODESIC TEAM THEOREM™ DEFINITION: Transferring
the concept from geometry to management, the Geodesic Team Theorem™ states that
all individuals and departments are
connected to each other forming one large
interconnected team ---The total sphere or
enterprise. Very similar to a geodesic
sphere, these networks form in a triangular
fashion throughout the organization as
miniature triangular modules of (me, you,
and us) which fit into larger modules of
(individual, departmental, and enterprise).
These miniature triangular networks
eventually connect all personnel within the
enterprise and cut across departments,
levels, silos, cohorts, and even virtual
involvements.
The Geodesic Team Development™ Series is a
comprehensive set of management, leadership,
and communication soft skill training modules turbo-charged
by the Geodesic Team Theorem™.
By understanding this new organizational
model, and simply shifting the perception of
how the enterprise actually exists and
functions; CIO's are able to harness this
powerful phenomenon to develop, expand and
super-charge both their strategic and tactical
effectiveness.
